Spring and autumn are periods when different international business weeks are actively taking place. By participating our students gain not only international experience working with students from different European countries, but also acquire new knowledge on the subject and develope skills in teamwork etc.
Our students Mariah Krystle Baldevarona (Master’s program “Business Management,” 1st study year), Aleksandrs Bartkevics (undergraduate program “Business process Management”, 4th study year) and Shakhrier Tursunov (undergraduate program “Business process Management” (Eng), 4th study year) took part in the International Business week organized by Vilnius University Business School on April 25-29 in Vilnius (Lithuania) within a framework of Blended Intensive Program.
The main focus of the Business Week was sustainability along with a given task from Vilnius University partner L’Oréal – Integrated marketing Communication. L’ Oréal, without waste:
L’ Oréal’s company uses many different packages, which in itself can naturally contaminate the environment. It needs to be taken care of.
- Involving major partner DOUGLAS, come up with the idea of picking up the empty packages.
- How to recycle them, use them for a second time (and maybe donate the money earned for recycled packaging).
- Prepare communication for the campaign (communication channels, message, etc.).
The team, made up of Mariah, Aleksandrs and students from the Netherlands and Vilnius, won first place in the Business Week:
Our team carried out market research and customer survey, it was identified that L’Oreal brand Kiehl’s (which was the main object of the task) is not very popular among consumers in Lithuania and Baltic states.
Because the focus was sustainability development, we are developing a plan for how the company could increase its recognisability and how to improve customer experience in-store.
Congratulations to Mariah and Aleksandrs on their first place in Vilnius Business week!
Business week participants on 6 interdisciplinary teams worked on the L’Oréal case study, went to the store on a tour of Douglas, where employees talked to students about sorting options for packages of various products, took a tour of the Taromat counting center. And in order to better prepare their solution to the company’s task, participants had a lecture on integrated marketing communication for projects.
Aleksandrs on the closing day of Business week:
On the day we defended the presentation and plan, we successfully passed the first stage of the selection process, where all six teams presented their ideas. The next stage was the final where only two of the best teams stayed and we won the final – first place with our idea. Representatives from L’Oreal, Kiehl’s and DOUGLAS companies’ took part in the jury of the Business Week.
