BA library is located at 161 K. Valdemara Street in Riga on the third floor. It consists of two units – the lending department and the reading– room. The library ensures the study process and scientific work providing students, academic staff and other customers with library, bibliographic, informative and copying services. The library stock has been created taking into consideration the specialization of BA and is being supplemented. The stock is mainly related on banking, finance and entrepreneurship. To provide students with self-study opportunities the library offers access to the legislation and other normative documentation of Republic of Latvia, monographs, reference publications, statistical data, internet resources and other materials and services. The library is used not only by BA and other higher educational institution students, but also BA graduates. They highly appreciate the convenience of free access to the stock and its quality.
There are more than 16000 copies of monographic publications and other information units, more than 1400 copies of continued publications in the library. The electronic catalogue contains almost 5000 entries. BA library regularly receives newspapers and magazines published in Latvia and abroad. The library receives publications of Bank of Latvia and other informative sources as well as subscribes to foreign publications such as Harvard Business Review, The Economist, The Focus, etc. and electronic data bases BBS, EBSCO (4500 magazine articles), EMERALD, SPRINGER, etc.
The library has an electronic catalogue which is formed within the integrated library system ALISE. It provides the search of publications according to different parameters and is available also in internet. All the library activities – stock building, the reader service, preparing reports and references are also carried out in the system ALISE. Any user can search information in the electronic catalogue, clarify the number and location of copies and read the description of the source of information. The library system ALISE enables the authorized users to check the state of their account, to request the time-limit extension and to make the reservation of the book. The librarian can provide authorization data.
The BA library participates in the project „The Virtual Catalogue of 12 Universities and Special Libraries” that enables the readers to search information in 12 libraries at the same time. The state agency „Culture Information Systems” provides information on the trials of foreign data bases.
There is 21 computerized seat with access to internet in the reading-room as well as printing and copying services. All the books, statistical data, periodicals and data bases are available in the reading-room. It is possible to use laptops and the wireless internet. The librarian consults on the methods of the search of information. You can also buy books published by BA School of Business and Finance. The Library of BA School of Business and Finance has been the member of the Association of Academic Libraries of Latvia for 9 years. The membership in the association ensures the cooperation of BA with other university libraries and access to the latest information.
Access to the library services from January 12th 2021
Book lending from the Library of BASBF is arranged via e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org in the following ways:
- By choosing books from the library catalogue alise.ba.lv and sending their significant bibliographical data (author’s name, title, publisher and year of publishing) to e-mail email@example.com. After receiving the notification from library staff that the order is processed, books can be picked up from the shelf at the main entrance on the first floor. Readers must leave a signature to confirm the borrowing.
- Readers can request a visit to the library to choose books themselves on the spot. It can be arranged in correspondence with library staff. During such visit readers must observe all the necessary epidemiological precautions (wear mask, keep safe distance). Only one person at the time can attend.
Reading room will remain closed until the end of the emergency situation in the country.

The purpose of BA School of Business and Finance library is to ensure academic staff and students with necessary literature and data basis.
