Research

Research carried out by the teaching staff and the integration of the research into the study process plays an important role at SBF. The professional development and competence of the teaching staff is the main priority and it is facilitated.

There are four departments in SBF: Finance, Management, Entrepreneurship and Business Informatics, as well as Foreign Language Department. Therefore the research areas are related to finance management in entrepreneurship, the development of entrepreneurship and business information technologies in the innovation era, improvement of management methods and human resource development to increase the competitiveness of the enterprise as well as the development of terminology definitions and usage in the area of finance and entrepreneurship.

Tasks of Research Centre:

  • To carry out research according to the chosen research areas, involving qualified researchers from Latvia and abroad.
  • To create the opportunity to carry out and facilitate scientific research in BSF involving teaching staff, doctoral students, post-graduates and undergraduates.

EU_Chapter_BA

 Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport. It runs for seven years, from 2014 to 2021.  It supports activities in education, training, youth and sport across all sectors of lifelong learning, including higher education,  vocational education and training, adult education, schools and also youth activities. The program also enhances the opportunities  for cooperation and mobility with partner countries, notably in the fields of higher education and youth.

Erasmus+ aims to modernise education, training and youth work across Europe. It is open to education, training, youth and sport organisations across all sectors of lifelong learning, including school education, further and higher education, adult education and the youth sector.

In order to facilitate BA School of Business and Finance (SBF) students’ integration and circulation at an international level, SBF is offering opportunities of exchange studies and traineeship abroad within the Erasmus + programme. That is an important precondition to improving ones professional competences and skills, and providing students with effective competitiveness.

It is a very great opportunity to go to one of our partner universities to study, strengthen own professional experience and bring back new academic, professional and personal competences. Therefore SBF has signed partnership agreements with more than 25 Erasmus+ partner universities in 33 countries.

Cooperation of BASBF with partners outside Europe.

BASBF has expanded its cooperation outside Europe. Currently within Erasmus+ programme BASBF is running the project with non-EU countries. In 2016/2017 academic year from BASBF 3 academic staff members lectured in India and Russian Federation, Israel, but BASBF received 3 lecturers from India and Malaysia.

Carrying on the tradition, SBF teaching staff visits secondary schools in Latvia to discuss topical financial and economic issues with youngsters, such as choosing the career and setting goals in life. Secondary school students learn about career opportunities after obtaining education in finance and entrepreneurship. They are educated about general financial literacy issues with emphasis on personal finance, saving and borrowing opportunities, especially fast loans.

BSF contributes not only to youth education, but also to educating the whole society about financial and economic issues by organising public and open lectures at BSF. Everybody who is interested is welcome to attend them.

SBF cooperates with other higher educational establishments in Latvia and collaboration partners abroad in organising international conferences on issues topical for theoreticians and professionals of financial sector and entrepreneurship. The exchange of opinions and ideas among scientists, entrepreneurs and business schools working in groups and during panel discussions is encouraged at the conference.

SBF also organises student research conferences in which participate not only students, but also SBF teaching staff, members of the State Examination Commission representing enterprises of different industries, non-government organisations and the representatives of public authorities. These conferences prove that researches of SBF students and graduates are not only outstanding and interesting, but also important from the perspective of the state development.

Every year, more than 500 BA School of Business and Finance students are carrying out practice in different enterprises they are interested in (companies, organizations, institutions, banks), returning from practice -students have to present practice reports and defend them. BA School of Business and Finance Career Centre organizes students to practices and provide them with internship places. Students can receive career consultation at Career Center, thus to plan and build their career. BA School of Business and Finance has entered into a long-term cooperation agreements with many companies and organizations. Each year, BA School of Business is organizing “Career Day”, where students can meet with employers and ask all their questions
